Please note – while this list is made up of frequently asked questions, the members of the Eagle Board of Review are always free to ask whatever questions they believe necessary to determine the qualifications of the candidate. 

The Scout should “be prepared” for the review, and using the questions below should provide a good basic understanding of what could be asked. 

The entire Eagle Board of Review will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.  Of this, only 10 minutes will be spent with the candidate -   about half the time will be spent by the Review Board looking over the project summary, reference letters and candidate
application.

There will only be time to ask a maximum of 4 to 6 question asked and these questions
will fall into 7 categories:

 

  • Commitment to the Oath and Scout Laws

  • Personal values, devotion to God and citizenship

  • Camping and general Scouting experiences – including merit badge, and rank advancement

  • Leadership experience, and what was learned

  • Project- problems, issues, overall thoughts

  • Basic Scout skills – Outdoor code, knot tying, helping younger Scouts

  • Future plans once he attains Eagle, and through adulthood

     

Please repeat the Scout oath and Scout laws (do it standing, at attention with sign raised).

What is the "Outdoor Code", and what does it mean to you?
 

"A Scout is Trustworthy" is the first of the Scout Laws. What does TRUSTWORTHY mean to you? 

"A Scout is Reverent" is the last of the Scout Laws. What does REVERENT mean to you?

What is your most memorable experience in Scouting?

Do you have a hero?


In your opinion, why is the "buddy system" so important in scouting? How have you used the buddy system in your scouting activities?


What did you enjoy most on your last troop campout? Were there any problems that occurred? How would you have handled the problem (differently)?

Do you feel that becoming an Eagle will change you in any way?

Did you have any difficulty planning a service project? How did you choose your project?

Did your service project benefit any specific group? How?

Will the benefit last a long time or was it a temporary thing?

Do you have any suggestions for other Eagle candidates for service projects?
