Now We’re

Boiling Water

Boiling Water

Not a cook?  Not a problem.

If you can boil water, you can cook simply and still eat well.  Consider these 4 ideas … just add boiling water.  Tasty, and nutritious.  Cleanup is a breeze, too, since they are one pot meals.

1.
Oatmeal – plain or flavored.  Stir in raisins, dried or fresh fruits (raisins or apples), brown sugar, maple syrup, walnuts … and add boiling water – stir until cooked.

As a bonus, use some of that extra boiling water to make the patrol some
hot cocoa.

2.
Soup -  Start with any flavor of dry soup you like.  Add boiling water according to the instructions, then jazz it up with a can of meat (ham, chicken), some canned vegetables.  Lots to choose from like mushrooms, diced tomatoes, potatoes, corn, mixed vegetables.

Serve with side items like sliced cheese, crackers, peanut butter.

3.
Macaroni & Cheese -  A classic.  Buy a box of instant macaroni & cheese.  Add boiling water, margarine, and milk (evaporated canned milk works fine) according to the directions.  Before serving, you can add cut up hot dogs, or cubed ham to make an excellent main course.

4.
Cooked instant rice – Fix according to the package instructions (basically add boiling water and wait).

You can eat rice as breakfast food or a supper food – your choice.

If for breakfast, treat like the
oatmeal (above).

If for supper, a real treat when you add some canned stir fry vegetables, canned oriental meats, chow mein noodles, cashews, soy sauce, and some pre-made garlic bread on the side – just slice and serve.
